Sequel to the Helldivers shooter game

Helldivers 2 is a premium action game being developed by Arrowhead Game Studios AB. It is the long-awaited sequel to the popular, tough-as-nails space shooter, Helldivers. Players will once again team up via online co-op to go on missions to fight against hostile alien threats throughout the galaxy.

Similar to the first Helldivers game or others like The Ascent, Helldivers has diverged from its top-down gameplay to a more immersive yet equally fast-paced third-person perspective that is just as challenging as its predecessor. In this game, you’ll be taking on the role of galactic peacekeepers.

Dive into hell once again

Helldivers is a game that was made for fans of co-op shooters that combined sci-fi themes and top-down twin-stick gameplay. The result was an action-packed experience that was challenging and fun. Many were asking for a sequel and that request is finally going to be fulfilled with the release of Helldivers 2. However, Arrowhead Studios has made some interesting changes this time around.

The biggest and most apparent change in this sequel is the shift to a third-person over-the-shoulder view, which completely changes how the game feels and plays. You still get to play with up to three other players, as well as that punishingly hard combat the original was known for. That is made even more complicated and tricky with the persistent friendly fire enabled.

To level the playing field, there's an arsenal of superpowered weapons you can customize for all types of load-outs and battle scenarios. You can even call on air support during missions, including bomb drops, anti-personnel mine deployers, and other tactical tools available to you. In this game, you step into the shoes of an elite soldier whose mission is peacemaking and maintaining democracy. 

Sequel plot overview

Helldivers 2 plunges players into the heart of a cosmic conflict where freedom, peace, and "managed democracy" — the very foundations of life on Super Earth — are at stake. Alien forces are plotting the downfall of the Super Earth world and its philosophies. Continuing from where the first chapter left off, players don the mantle of Helldivers, the elite peacekeepers, engaging in a galactic war with a mandate to safeguard their planetary home.

Armed for interstellar battles, Helldivers have at their disposal galactic tools of war that are unmatched in their capacity to wreak havoc. Flexibility is built into every aspect of combat, from a formidable array of primary firearms to extensive customization options. Moreover, the game introduces “stratagems,” a feature that allows players to call upon specialized tactical aids during heated battles.

After eight years and a lot of waiting, there is finally the sequel that a lot of fans were asking for in the form of Helldivers 2. You get much of the same fun and engaging co-op gameplay, with weapons to play around with.
